The work of Lawrence Lek not only inspires awe and wonder, but also aims to incite critical thinking in his viewers as much as any other reaction. From October 22 – November 8, 2020, Lek’s experimental video essay Sinofuturism (1839-2046) will be available to screen for all program registrants. In this work, Lek melds genres of science fiction, documentary melodrama, social realism and Chinese cosmologies to view the future through the lens of China’s technological development.
